About the Parish Council

Stanway Parish Council is a group of elected or co-opted local residents who work hard on your behalf to make Stanway an even better place to live, work and visit.

The Parish Council is supported by the Parish Clerk, a Clerk’s Assistant and an Office Administration Assistant, all of which represent the Council and act as the main point of contact.

Our work can be divided into two areas; statutory duties and community functions. The statutory work involves liaising with organisations like Colchester Borough Council and Essex County Council, consulting on things such as planning applications and development. The community functions include addressing local issues and undertaking projects to improve the community such as providing play areas, sports facilities, notice boards, benches and organising community events.

Our website includes details about how we conduct business and our role and remit. In addition, the website contains a wealth of information about on-going developments within the Parish and information on the different organisations, societies and clubs that operate within Stanway.

We hope the information on this website is useful and keeps you informed of everything that is going on in Stanway. Please do contact us if there are issues which you feel need to be looked at, or if you have any suggestions for content.
