  1. Attendance and apologies for absence

To record and approve the attendance and reasons for absence

 

  1. Declaration of interest

To allow councillors to declare a Disclosable Pecuniary, Other Pecuniary or Registerable Non-    Pecuniary interest on any matter covered by the Agenda. Members are reminded that, when      considering any item, if it becomes clear that they have an interest, they must declare it.

 

  1. Public participation 

a)The Chairman to invite members of the public to indicate if they wish to speak at this meeting – either on an item on the agenda or on a general matter not on this agenda. You should indicate your wish to speak to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting.

 

b)The Chairman to invite contributions from members of the public who wish to speak on a general matter not on this agenda.

 

The public may raise matters or ask questions relating to the work of the Recreation Areas Committee. Questions cannot always be answered at the meeting but they will be dealt with appropriately. If a matter raised or question asked is to be discussed by the Councillors it will be added to the agenda for the next meeting of the Committee or passed to Full Council.

 

Recording of Meetings:  Should anyone wish to record a Committee or Council Meeting the Clerk must be informed prior to the start of the meeting in order that the Council can comply with Data Protection Regulations.

 

  1. Minutes of the Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting of Wednesday 18th April 2018

To consider and approve the minutes of that meeting which have been circulated.

 

  1. Financial Report

            To receive an up to date Nominal Ledger and Cost Centre Review to 30th April 2018.

                       

  1.  Youth Garden

To receive an update on the condition of the Youth Garden.

 

  1.    Silver Witch Green and Lucy Lane South Play Areas

To receive an update on the condition of the play areas.

        

  1. Annual Play Area Safety Inspections

            To receive an update on the remedial action indentified in the Annual Play Area Safety Inspection

Reports.

 

  1. Other Areas of Responsibility

         To consider the other areas the Committee is responsible for,  i.e: Swan Green, Turkey Cock Lane, Village Hall Playing Field etc.

 

  1. Items for committees/ Next Council meeting

To receive and consider requests for items to be included on agendas for committees or Council

 

  1. To confirm the date of the next meeting

To confirm the date of the next Recreation Areas Committee meeting scheduled to be held in the

Committee Room, Victory Hall on Wednesday, 20th June 2018 at 7.30pm.

Apologies were received from Cllrs K Marking (personal commitment), L Tate (business commitment) and I Wancerska (illness).

 

RESOLVED to accept the Councillor apologies.

         There were no members of the Public present.

  1. Financial Report

         Prior to the Meeting the Clerk had advised that the financial report for this Month was not available as RIALTAS were in the middle of closing the account. The Committee expressed their disappointment at this as they were aware of transactions that would have been processed since the last Meeting.

 

  1. Youth Garden

Cllrs J R Norton and C M Spademan both though the Youth Garden looked a shambles. Cllr J R Norton advised that there was a lot of litter from MacDonald’s whom he thought were supposed to pick up within a half mile radius of the restaurant. Borough Councillor P Dundas reported that he was trying to arrange a meeting with the Zoning Team and all the restaurants at Tollgate to address the issue.

 

Borough Councillor P Dundas agreed that the Youth Garden was a mess, the Committee had been prepared to spend money on it but there was now the question of moving the cycle path.

 

Cllr C M Spademan advised that she and Cllr J Spademan had visited during the Easter Holidays spending time to tidy it up. There have been several fires in the hub. Cllr T Manning agreed to cut the grass for the Committee if Cllr C M Spademan helped him to litter pick on Footpath 42.

 

Cllr C M Spademan reported  that she had visited the Youth Garden today and there is litter everywhere. The grass has also re-grown very quickly.

Barry the Maintenance Worker has agreed to keep the grass cut if he is provided with a petrol strimmer, protective clothing and overtime.

 

RESOLVED to spend a maximum of £250.00 on a petrol strimmer and protective clothing and to pay Barry the Maintenance worker an extra hour per week in overtime.

 

  1. Silver Witch Green and Lucy Lane South Play Areas

         Cllrs D Jordan and J R Norton both thought Silver Witch Green was looking quite nice. Cllr C M Spademan had visited today, there was a small amount of litter and the weeds were dying off.

 

Borough Councillor P Dundas had passed the Lucy Lane Play Area a week ago and the Zoning Team were inspecting the Play Area fencing. Cllr C M Spademman advised that they had not fixed the gate.

 

  1. Annual Play Safety Inspections

         Item 00113 Cllr D Jordan has contacted Wicksteed regarding the two missing bung covers and is awaiting their response.

  

  1. Other Areas of Responsibility

         Cllr C M Spademan advised that it was hard to tell if the grass at Turkey Cock  Land and in front of the Village Hall had been cut. The Clerk’s Assistant will confirm if and when it had been done.
